Interventional Procedures
Caudal Steroid Injection
This injection procedure is performed to relieve low back and radiating leg pain. The steroid medication can reduce the swelling and inflammation caused by spinal conditions, such as spinal stenosis, radiculopathy, sciatica and herniated discs.
Celiac Plexus Block
This procedure is performed to diagnose and reduce abdominal pain caused by conditions such as cancer or pancreatitis. An injection is used to block the nerves serving the abdomen. An intravenous (IV) line may be used to administer medication to relax the patient.
Cervical Epidural Steroid Injection
The injection relieves pain in the neck, shoulders, and arms caused by a pinched nerve (or nerves) in the cervical spine. Conditions such as herniated discs, spinal stensis, or radiculopathy can compress nerves, causing inflammation and pain. The medication injected helps decrease the swelling of nerves.
Facet Joint Injections
Each vertebra in the spine is connected to the vertebra above and below it by facet joints, which are located on both sides of the rear of the spine. A facet joint block can be both diagnostic and therapeutic for back or neck pain. A facet joint block injection can confirm whether the facet joints are indeed the source of pain and can help relieve the pain and inflammation.
Fascia Ilica Block
This procedure is performed to block pain signals from traveling along the femoral nerve from the thigh or knee to the brain. It is commonly used to alleviate pain that can appear after certain leg surgeries such as total knee replacement.
Hip Bursitis
This condition is an inflammation of the trochanteric bursa, a fluid-filled sac that lies between the femur and the iliotibial band. a thick, wide tendon on the outside of the hip joint. This condition can cause pain and swelling on the outer side of the hip.
Intrathecal Pump Implant
An intrathecal pump relieves chronic pain. It uses small amounts of medicine applied directly to the intrathecal space (the area surrounding the spinal cord) to prevent pain signals from being perceived by the brain. Pump candidates included people for whom conservative treatments have failed and surgery is not likely to help.
Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injection
The injection procedure is performed to relieve low back and radiating leg pain. Steroid medication can reduce the swelling and inflammation caused by spinal conditions. In some cases it may be necessary to request the procedure as many as three times to get the full benefit of the medication. Many patients get significant relief from only one or two injections.
Lumbar Sympathetic Block
This procedure is performed to relieve leg pain caused by complex regional pain syndromes, which may develop after an injury to joint or limb. Usually a series of injections are needed to treat the problem.
Lumbar Transforaminal Epidural Steroid Injection
This injection procedure is performed to relieve low back and radiating leg pain. The steroid medication can reduce the swelling and inflammation caused by spinal conditions such as spinal stenosis, radiculopathy, sciatica and herniated discs.
Medical Branch Block
This diagnostic procedure is performed to determine if a specific facet joint is the source of a patient's pain. During the procedure, an injection is administered to block the nerves serving the painful joints.
RACZ Caudal Neurolysis (Percutaneous Lisis of adhesion)
This injection, generally performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia, relieves low back and leg pain most often caused by scarring from a prior back surgery. The procedure is performed with the patient lying face down with a cushion placed under the stomach.
Sacroiliac Joint Steroid Injection
This injection procedure is performed to relieve pain caused by arthritis in the sacroiliac joint where the spine and hip bone meet. The steroid medication can reduce swelling and inflammation in the joint.
Spinal Cord Stimulator Implant
Spinal cored stimulation (also called SCS) uses electrical impulses to relieve pain of the back, arms, and leg. It is believed that electrical pulses prevent pain signals from being received by the brain. SCS candidates included people who suffer from neuropathic pain and for whom conservative treatments have failed.
Stellate Ganglion Block
This injection can both diagnose and treat pain coming from the sympathetic nerves. It is a common treatment for shingles and complex regional pain syndromes affecting the head, face neck, or arms. Usually a series of these injections is needed to treat the problem.
Radiofrequency Neurotomy of the Cervical Facets
This minimally-invasive procedure uses a radiofrequency probe to stun painful nerves in the facet joints, reducing or eliminating pain signals.
Lumbar Radiofrequency Neurotomy
This minimally-invasive procedure, also called radiofrequency (or RF) rhizotomy, reduces or eliminates the pain of damaged facet joints by disrupting the medial branch nerves that carry the pain signals. This procedure is performed with local anesthetic.
Cervical Facet Radiofrequency Neurotomy
This minimally-invasive procedure, also called radiofrequency (or RF) rhizotomy, reduces or eliminates the pain of damaged facet joints by disrupting the medial branch nerves that carry the pain signals. This procedure is performed with local anesthetic.
